PHOENIX, AZ, June 23, 2025 — Northwest Valley Indivisible (NWVI) today called on Senators Mark Kelly and Ruben Gallego to support Senator Tim Kaine’s War Powers Resolution (S.J.Res. 59), to block further unauthorized U.S. military involvement in the Iran–Israel conflict.
NWVI also blasted Rep. Abe Hamadeh for backing former President Trump’s unconstitutional airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites—attacks that bypassed Congress and put American lives at risk.
“Trump’s illegal strikes on Iran defy the Constitution and dangerously entangle the U.S. in another Middle East war,” said Brent Peak, Co-Chair of NWVI. “And Abe Hamadeh is cheering it on. He ran on defending the Constitution, but when Trump shreds it, Hamadeh backs him all the way.”
On June 21, Trump ordered U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites—without Congressional awareness or approval—after Israeli attacks began on June 13. The Pentagon has since shifted aircraft and warships into the region, escalating the risk of broader war.
Senator Kaine’s resolution would reassert Congressional war powers under the 1973 War Powers Resolution and require authorization for any further U.S. military action in the conflict.
“This is how Iraq began—unchecked presidential power, misinformation, and endless war,” Peak said. “Congress must act now. Our Senators must lead. And Arizona voters should know where Abe Hamadeh stands.”
