SURPRISE, AZ, April 8, 2025 — At a peaceful protest held Monday morning outside Rep. Abraham Hamadeh’s district office, constituents were once again reminded of the stark double standard that has become routine at the location. While protestors have been repeatedly threatened with arrest and repeatedly encountered a tow truck stationed to deter participation, a group of Hamadeh supporters who met with his staff earlier this morning were allowed to gather, counter-protest, and park freely in the lot with no such enforcement.
Roughly 20 Trump supporters remained for about an hour after a private meeting with Rep. Hamadeh’s staff. Unlike the constituents who have gathered weekly to request a public town hall, these supporters were met with no cones, no tow truck, and no threats of arrest.
“For weeks, we’ve been told we’ll be arrested if we step onto the property. One of our senior adult participants even had her car towed without warning,” said Brent Peak of Northwest Valley Indivisible. “Yet when a group that supports Hamadeh shows up, they’re given access, parking, and a warm welcome. This is a blatant double standard—and it’s being carried out at a public congressional office.”
Over the past two months, several dozen constituents—many of them senior citizens concerned about Medicare, Social Security, and democratic representation—have:
- Been met with cones and blocked access to the parking lot
- Had a tow truck stationed outside the building
- Been threatened with arrest for stepping onto the premises
- Been labeled “fake protesters” and “radical leftists” by Rep. Hamadeh and his staff
Meanwhile, Rep. Hamadeh has continued to refuse calls to hold a public, in-person town hall. He did not attend the People’s Town Hall organized by more than 200 constituents on March 17.
“If Rep. Hamadeh refuses to treat his constituents equally—or to ensure his office location isn’t weaponized by the property owner against those who disagree with him—then it’s time for him to find a new office,” said Peak.
