For Immediate Release
Phoenix, AZ — August 20, 2025 — At a meeting this week with Democrats from Arizona’s 28th and 29th legislative districts, Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes confirmed what thousands of Arizonans already know: grassroots protests are putting real pressure on CD8’s Congressman Abe Hamadeh. When asked about Hamadeh’s pattern of stonewalling constituents and attempts to intimidate peaceful demonstrators, Mayes said protestors should “Keep it up, because you’re in his head.”
Mayes, who defeated Hamadeh in the 2022 Attorney General race, contrasted her record of accessibility with his absence. She has held over 30 town halls since taking office, while Rep. Hamadeh has held zero.
The exchange came after LD28 constituent Brent Peak reminded Mayes of two key facts:
- Hamadeh’s district director ordered a peaceful protestor’s car towed earlier this year — and then denied it.
- Nearly 6,000 constituents joined the national No Kings mobilization on June 14 across Hamadeh’s district — likely the largest protest ever held in Arizona’s 8th Congressional District.
“Rep. Hamadeh has refused to hold a single town hall, smeared his own constituents as ‘paid agitators,’ and even tried to intimidate them with false accusations,” said Peak, who is also the co-chair of Northwest Valley Indivisible. “By contrast, AG Mayes has shown up again and again for Arizonans — and even she acknowledged that our pressure campaign is working. When nearly 6,000 people take to the streets, that’s a sign this community will not be ignored.”
Organizers vowed to continue escalating efforts until Hamadeh meets with constituents and addresses their concerns.
