To Republicans and independents in the Northwest Valley who are concerned about recent ICE and Border Patrol operations in Minnesota and other states: this is an invitation to stand with your neighbors and show up with Northwest Valley Indivisible.
Most Americans believe in secure borders and the rule of law while also expecting federal agencies to operate within clear legal limits. When law enforcement actions appear to lack transparency, restraint, or accountability, it is appropriate for citizens to speak up.
If you are hesitant due to concerns about safety or disorder, here are the facts. Last year, Northwest Valley Indivisible organized more than 40 peaceful events, with over 8,400 local residents participating (all unpaid!). These events were calm, orderly, and non-threatening. Most were coordinated in advance with local law enforcement to ensure public safety.
We maintain strong working relationships with the Surprise Police Department and Phoenix PD, and we have coordinated multiple district-wide events with Glendale PD, Peoria PD, and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. We respect law enforcement and the communities they serve. Our events reflect that respect by remaining peaceful, non-vulgar, and family-friendly. Children and families regularly attend.
This is not about opposing police or undermining public safety. It is about accountability, constitutional boundaries, and the long-standing American principle that government power must have limits.
I have personally partnered extensively with a local Republican leader on immigration issues over the past year. We first met when she led counter-protests at our events and we coordinated for safety and civility between our groups. Today, we are close friends. That experience reinforced something important: concern about federal overreach crosses party lines.
Many Republicans and independents in our community are deeply uneasy about what is happening now. If that includes you, now is the time to lend your voice.
Our events are safe places to do so.
