Kelly Yu fled China 21 years ago while pregnant with her daughter. She came to the U.S. seeking safety from China’s brutal “one child policy.” She made a home in Peoria, Arizona. She raised her daughter. She ran a business. She became part of this community.

And now, ICE has detained her.

She was picked up during a routine immigration check-in—a check-in she’s complied with faithfully for years. Her family didn’t even get to say goodbye. Her daughter and husband—both U.S. citizens—are now at home, terrified that she’ll be deported before anyone can intervene.

They live in Arizona’s 8th Congressional District.
Their representative is Abe Hamadeh.

And here’s the part that should stop all of us cold:

Abe Hamadeh’s own parents came to this country on temporary visas. They overstayed. They faced deportation. But they were shown compassion—and allowed to stay.
That compassion gave them the chance to raise their son in the United States. That compassion is the only reason he’s here today, serving in Congress.

Now, we’re asking him to show that same compassion to Kelly Yu.

✊ What You Can Do Right Now

1. Call Rep. Hamadeh’s District Office:
📞 (623) 776-7911
Ask him to intervene, file a constituent assistance request with ICE, and publicly support Kelly Yu’s humanitarian release.

2. Send an Email Through His Website:

I’m calling on Rep. Hamadeh to help stop the deportation of Kelly Yu, a longtime Peoria resident detained by ICE. Her family lives in this district. She has contributed to her community for over 20 years.

Rep. Hamadeh’s own parents were given compassion when they overstayed their visas. I’m asking him to show that same compassion now and fight for her immediate humanitarian release.

Please file a constituent assistance request and publicly support Kelly Yu’s release. Time is critical. Thank you.

We don’t know how much time we have.
But we know what public pressure can do.

Please share this post. Make the calls. Send the email. Help bring Kelly home.
